Come together at ICHI!

In Japanese, the kanji 壱 ("ICHI") means “where two things connect and become one” or “to come together”.
That is what we hope ICHI to be – a borderless place for people to connect and come together regardless of background, age or culture.
To travel is to make connections with the people, land and culture. May you make a great connection here at ICHI!

STORY

ICHI THE HOSTEL first opened its doors to the world on the 1st of August 2019.
Originally a traditional style Japanese house we worked for 4 months straight to get to how it is now.
Stripping the interior of the house down to its foundation, from roof to flooring, wall to wall, corner to corner, everything was rebuilt by hand.
Built out of a labour of love, we offer a unique space to unwind and relax in the quiet town of Hiwasa.
We truly hope you can find some comfort at ICHI, a home away from home.
